1983 Jackson Flying V - "Round and Round"

This is one of the first things most people remember about RATT....Robbin tearing through the 'Round & Round' video, thrusting this guitar in the camera!!

Ordered on March 9 and delivered on September 2, 1983. Serial# J0005 (See center right pic), The first Roundhorn Jackson Flying V. Custom built by Mike Shannon and Grover Jackson for Robbin.

Sometime in early '83, after the release of RATT's self titled EP, Robbin & Warren visited the Glendora, California Charvel/Jackson facility. This was the first of some 25 jackson guitars built for Robbin & started a relationship that would last for the next 8 years.

Not yet an endorsee of Charvel/Jackson, the guitar cost him $559.13!!....$450 plus $34.13 sales tax & $75 for the case.

This guitars features the unique (i.e. time consuming & expensive) construction found on only the first 150 or so Jackson guitars. A 5 piece center with the 2 side wings added for a total of 7 pieces!

Of note is the rather cumbersome layout of 2 volume controls & toggle switch set well back & away (see center left pic) from the natural hand rest position of the bridge & pickups.

Seymour Duncan JB & Jazz pickups, bound Rosewood fretboard with pearl dots and original Floyd Rose trem.

Used on the 'Out of the Cellar' and 'Invasion of your Privacy' Tours.
