1985 Jackson Firebird Custom "Catfish"
This guitar was built in 1985 for Robbin, his third Jackson Firebird. Serial #J1045. Older style Floyd Rose trem, Volume control, Seymour Duncan JB pickup & unusual factory Grover tuners. Distinctive three themed graphic featuring Chinese dragon, Catfish and 2 Asian "Kanji" Characters that mean literally "With Love".
This guitar was Robbin's favorite (his words) and was used on every RATT tour from 1985-1991. Widely pictured & featured in several videos, it was custom ordered & left the Jackson factory per King's request "poly only" (primer only). The first of 4 guitars to be painted by Robbin's friend, famed tattoo artist Marc Rude. Of note is the unusual yellowed color of the guitar caused by cheap spray-can lacquer shot on top of the artwork to protect it.
Take a close look at the photos; the rose attached to the end was one of Robbin's trademarks. In the close up shots of the body, notice the large worn area at the top of the guitar. Robbin referred to this as "The Divot!" Over time, his arm literally wearing away the primer... and some wood too...testament to the huge amount of playing time on this particular guitar.
